Abstract A HEART VALVE PROSTHESIS HAVING A DISCOID POPPET MOUNTED THEREIN FOR PIVOTAL MOVEMENT BETWEEN A CLOSED AND OPENED POSITION. THE POPPET IS SUPPORTED FOR MOVEMENT BY OPPOSED, SPACED SUPORTED STRUTS WICH FORM AN ECCENTRIC PIVOT POINT FOR OPENING OF THE VALVE AND A CHANGING PIVOT POINT FOR CLOSING OF THE VALVE. THE SPACING BETWEEN THE STRUTS IS SUFFICIENT TO ENABLE ROTATIONAL MOVEMENT OF THE POPPET DURING OPERATION.
