Abstract

Abstract A drape for performing a plurality of individual surgical procedures on a patient''s body. The drape includes a flexible main sheet having a lower and an upper surface which respectively contact and face away from the patient''s body after placement of the drape, and the main sheet has a plurality of fenestrations located in the drape for performing a plurality of separate surgical procedures through the drape. The drape includes a plurality of cover sheets which are removably secured to the upper surface of the drape over the fenestrations. An individual cover sheet may be removed from the drape to perform a select surgical procedure through the associated fenestration, and the remaining cover sheets maintain a sterile barrier over the remaining fenestrations during the selected surgical procedure.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 200 words
A sterile drape for performing a plurality of separate surgical procedures on a patient''s body, comprising: a flexible main sheet having a lower and an upper surface respectively contacting and facing away from the patient''s body after placement of the drape, said main sheet having a plurality of individually shaped fenestrations located in the drape and of a sufficient size for performing a plurality of individual surgical procedures through the drape; a plurality of flexible cover sheets removably secured to the upper surface of the drape around said fenestrations to maintain a sterile barrier over said fenestrations, each of said cover sheets being sufficiently large to cover an associated fenestration, with a lower central portion of the cover sheets being non-adherent and facing through the fenestrations, such that an individual cover sheet may be removed from the drape to expose the underlying portion of the patient''s body and perform a selected surgical procedure through its associated fenestration, while the remaining cover sheets maintain a sterile barrier over the remaining fenestrations during the selected surgical procedure; and a plurality of separate flexible reinforcement strips secured to the main sheet, each of said reinforcement strips extending peripherally around one of said fenestrations.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 200 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
The drape of claim 1 wherein said cover sheets are adhered to the drape.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
The drape of claim 1 wherein said reinforcement strips are secured to the upper surface of said main sheet.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 20 words
The drape of claim 3 wherein said main sheet and reinforcement strips have coextensive peripheral edges extending around the fenestrations.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
The drape of claim 4 wherein said cover sheets are adhered to the reinforcement strips around the peripheries of the associated fenestrations.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 68 words
The drape of claim 3 wherein said main sheet and reinforcement strips have peripheral edges extending around said fenestrations, the peripheral edges of said reinforcement strips are set back from the peripheral edges of the main sheet defining marginal edges of the main sheet extending peripherally around the fenestrations, and said cover sheets are adhered to the marginal edges of the main sheet peripherally around the associated fenestrations.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 42 words
The drape of claim 6 wherein the peripheral edges of the reinforcement strips are set back sufficiently from the peripheral edges of the main sheet for the peripheral edges of the reinforcement strips to extend around peripheral edges of the cover sheets.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 19 words
The drape of claim 1 wherein said reinforcement strips are secured to the lower surface of said main sheet.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 20 words
The drape of claim 8 wherein said main sheet and reinforcement strips have coextensive peripheral edges extending around the fenestrations.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 68 words
The drape of claim 8 wherein said main sheet and reinforcement strips have peripheral edges extending around said fenestrations, the peripheral edges of the main sheet are set back from the peripheral edges of the reinforcement strips defining marginal edges of the reinforcement strips extending peripherally around The fenestrations, and said cover sheets are adhered to the marginal edges of the reinforcement strips peripherally around the associated fenestrations.
