Abstract

Abstract A prosthesis material useful for artificial bones or teeth is provided in the form of a heat-consolidated body composed essentially of a dense structurally integrated mixture of discrete microcrystals of a calcium phosphate compound together with discrete microcrystals of a refractory compound, such as the mineral spinel, aluminum phosphate, or aluminum oxide. The preferred calcium phosphate compound is whitlockite, but it can be used in combination with other more soluble calcium phosphate compounds.
