Abstract A PROCESS IS DISCLOSED FOR THE ENCAPSULATION OF A FINELY DIVIDED INORGANIC SOLID, DISPERSED IN AQUEOUS MEDIUM, WITH POLYMER BY IN SITU POLYMERIZATION. THE PROCESS DEPEND ON ESTABLISHING A CATIONIC CHARGE ON THE DISPERSED SOLID FOLLOWED BY POLYMERIZATION, UNDER SPECIFIED CONDITIONS, OF MONOMER IN THE AQUEOUS MEDIUM IN THE PRESENCE OF THE SOLID, IF DESIRABLE EMULSIFIED POLYMER CAN BE FORMED IN THE AQUEOUS MEDIUM AFTER ENCAPSULATION OF THE FINELY DIVIDED SOLID HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
