Abstract

Abstract The particular embodiment described herein as illustrative of one form of the invention utilizes an instrument system for detecting parameters of borehole conditions and storing data bits indicative of such parameters. A scan circuit determines the presence or absence of such stored data bits and causes a bit insert circuit to superimpose corresponding data pulses on a conductor supplying line power from the surface to the instrument system in the borehole. A synchronization pulse is also superimposed on the line power to distinguish series of data bits. Surface equipment separates the data and synchronization pulses from the line power and utilizes such data pulses for computing wellbore conditions.
