Abstract IN THE PHOTOCOMPOSITION OF PRINT CHARACTERS A SUCCESSION OF PRINT CHARACTERS ARE PROJECTED OPTICALLY ON TO A FILM USING A HELICAL REFLECTING SURFACE WHICH IS ROTATED SO THAT THE REFLECTED PATH MOVES PROGRESSIVELY ACROSS THE FILM. A PLURALITY OF LIGHTS SELECTIVELY ILLUMINATE THE REQUIRED CHARACTERS AT THE RIGHT INSTANTS AS THE REFLECTED PATH MOVES ACROSS THE FILM.
