Abstract
Abstract A thermoplastic container and lid are heat-sealed together through clamping jaws. During the sealing operation a pair of offset scores are applied to flanges on the container and lid, which are heat-sealed. The scores facilitate severance of the sealed flanges for opening the container. Offset knives heated by the clamping jaws form the offset scores and leave a tab on the lid by which the lid may be readily removed and replaced subsequently when desired.
