Claim 3
Dependent Claim
63 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein said trap body includes an upwardly extending skirt portion disposed in surrounding relationship to said tubular member and being open at the upper end thereof, said upwardly extending skirt portion fitting about the outer surface of said valve body, and additional sealing means providing a seal between said upwardly extending skirt portion and said valve body.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
43 words
Apparatus as defined in claim 2 wherein said connecting means includes a pin member extending substantially radially outwardly from said valve body and a bayonet slot formed in the upwardly extending skirt portion of said trap body, said bayonet slot receiving said pin.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
209 words
A bacteriological trap within a water supply system comprising a body member having an axial bore extending therethrough defining an elongate upright air gap chamber having a closed lower end and an open upper end, said open upper end being of reduced size and substantially coaxial with said elongate chamber, said chamber having a side outlet port disposed intermediate the ends of the chamber to communicate with an animal-actuated watering valve; an elongate water delivery tube of reduced dimension fixed within the upper reduced opening of the air gap chamber, said delivery tube having an upper open end extended above said upper reduced opening, and a lower open end terminating within the chamber above the side outlet port at a distance from said outlet port sufficient to produce an air gap at the lower end of said delivery tube when the water under moderate pressure is forced Through the tube and into the chamber while the side outlet port is closed, the level of the water being above the side outlet port but below the lower open end of the tube and the pressure in the air gap is substantially equal to the pressure in the water supply system thus preventing contamination from entering the tube and supply system.
Claim 6
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
38 words
The trap as defined by claim 4, wherein the lower end of the upright air gap chamber is normally closed by means of a displaceable closure member affording access to said chamber for purposes of cleaning and inspection.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
57 words
The trap as defined by claim 4, wherein the body member includes an annular skirt surrounding the open upper end of the delivery tube, and extending above the upper reduced opening of the air gap chamber, said skirt having an inner annular surface to effect a fluidtight seal about a valve supplying fluid to the delivery tube.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
