Abstract A METHOD FOR BONDING TWO STRUCTURES OF THERMOPLASTIC MATERIAL WHICH COMPRISES BRINGING THE STRUCTURES TOGEHTER SO THAT THEY ARE IN MATING CONTACT, AND SUBSEQUENTLY IRRADIATING THE PRESSED TOGETHER THERMOPLASTIC STRUCTURES BY PLACING THE SAME IN THE PATH OF HIGH ENERGY ELECTROMAGMETIC RADIATION, SUCH AS A PULSED LASER BEAM FOR EXAMPLE, TO EFFECT SOFTENING OF THE INTERFACE WHEREBY SAID STRUCTURES ARE BONDED TOGETHER.
