Abstract A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A POLYMER HAVING DIHALO-S-TRIAZINYL GROUPS BOUND THERETO WHICH COMPRISES CONTACTING A POLYMER HAVING NUCLEOPHILIC GROUPS WITH A SOLUTION OF A CYANURIC HALIDE IN AN INERT WATER-MISCIBLE ORGANIC SOLVENT IN THE PRESENCE OF WATER AND MAINTAINING AN ACID OR NEUTRAL PH AFTER REACTION HAS OCCURED WHEREBY THE TENDENCY TO HYDROLYSIS AND CROSS-LINKING OF THE POLYMER IS SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED.
