Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to a catheter comprising a base body in the form of a flexible tube and having a proximal end and a distal end. The base body comprises at least one lumen for accommodating a guide wire which extends from an end opening at the distal end to a wall opening in the wall of the base body, at a location between the distal end and the proximal end. In the vicinity of the distal end, the catheter comprises an active element, such as a sensor or a balloon, with the wall opening located close to the active element, on its side which is remote from the end opening.
