Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enhance high efficiency in cutting a very hard material or a material difficult to be cut by forming cutting blades with a very hard compound sintered compact and a cemented carbide, etc., in which the main components are cubic boron nitride, diamond, or a mixture of cubic boron nitride with diamond. CONSTITUTION:In the end portion of a main body 1 are provided chip discharging grooves 10, 10a and open slits 11, 11a. And then, compound sintered compacts A are fitted into the slits 11, 11a so as to be fixed thereinto through brazing. Cutting blades 13, 13a and 14, 14a on the central portions and the peripheral sides respectively are formed with the aid of machining. Hard materials 300, 300a on the cutting blade sides are removed through grinding, thereby exposing the cutting blades, the most of which are made of the hard materials having tenacity and wear resistance, in the cutting blades 13, 13a on the central portions. Thus, the cutting blades 14, 14a on the peripheral sides are composed of sintered compacts 200, 200a. Therefore, even a very hard material or a material difficult to be cut can be effectively cut.
