Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To permit formation of an insertion part to a smaller diameter by providing the wire bonding parts of a soild-state image pickup element to a side different from the side where internal components are disposed. CONSTITUTION:An observation window 23 is provided to the side part of a front end part 9 and an SID 33 is disposed on the side nearer the root side than the window 23 so as to intersect approximately orthogonally with the axial direction of the insertion part 2. A light guide fiber 50 is inserted to the lower side (the side opposite from the window 23) of the SID 33. The wire bonding parts 42 of the SID 33 are disposed on the side different from the side where a light guide fiber 50 is disposed, i.e., on both the right and left sides of an image area 41 of an SID chip 36. The formation of the front end part 9 to a smaller diameter without increasing the size thereof is thus permitted.
