Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make a device safely usable over the whole surface without moving a cutter, by installing a file part consisting of silicon carbide and the holding part joined with one end part of the file part. CONSTITUTION:This file device is made up of installing a file part 11 consisting of silicon carbide and the holding part 12 joined with one end part of the said file part 11. This file part 11 is formed with recrystalline silicon carbide manufactured by an ordinary process, and it is desirable to have a porosity of 10-30%. If this porosity comes to less than 10%, water is not sufficiently permeated, causing a hindrance in its polishing work, and in contract with this is exceeding 30%, strength is lowered, causing breakdown at the time of the plishing work, that is the reason for. The holding part is held by hand, and the file part 11 is applied to a workpiece, for example, a cutter or the like and moved with some pressure. At this time, if water is permeated in the file part 11, the polishing work is smoothly performable without entailing any excessive temperature rise in the file part 11 and the workpiece. According to this structure, an acute angle part is eliminated, allowing it to use the whole surface of the file part 11 and, what is more, any damage to hand or fingers is avoidable.
