Abstract

Abstract NEW MATERIAL:1,4-Benzoquinone derivatives, expressed by formula I (n is 9 when R is H, and is 7 when R is hydroxyl group), expressed by formula II (the sum of l and m is 14), and having 69.5-70.5 deg.C and expressed by formula III, and having 88-90 deg.C melting point. EXAMPLE:5-Methyoxy-8-(cis-10-pentadecenyl)-1,4-benzoquinone. USE:Useful as a preventing and treating agent for asthma, inflammations, allergies, etc., having inhibitory action on arachidonic acid 5-lipoxygenase, and further useful as a preventing and treating agent for hypertension, cerebral apoplexy, cardiac insufficiency, immunity insufficiency, etc. with low toxicity. PREPARATION:For example, Ardisia japonica Bl. which is a plant of the famliy Myrsinaceae or Ardisia sieboldii Miq. which is a plant of the family Myrsinaceae is extracted to isolate the compounds expressed by formulas I , and IIand III.
