Preparation of blood serum usable in cell cultivation medium
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the titled blood serum free from undesirable effect to the proliferation of cell, at a low cost, by adding a specific amount of a copolymer having a specific molecular weight and composed of ethylene oxide and a hydrophobic polyoxypropylene base to the heat-treated blood serum, and removing the precipitate. CONSTITUTION: Blood serum originated from warm-blooded animal is heat- treated at 50W70°C for 20W120min, and mixed with a polyoxyethylene.polyoxypropylene block polymer (molecular weight: 4,000W20,000) containing a hydrophobic polypropylene base containing ≥50% ethylene oxide. The amount of the block polymer is 0.5W18%. Glycoproteins, immunoglobulins, etc. precipitated by the treatment are removed, and the resultant supernatant liquid is added to the medium for the cultivation of cells. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
