Ultrasonic distance measuring apparatus

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To perform accurate measurement over wide distances by mounting a transmitter and a receiver to the same structure and removing the evil effect by the signal component directly leaking from the transmitter to the receiver, without vibratively isolating these. CONSTITUTION:The 1st pulse which determines the generation time of the pulses transmitted from a transmitter 11 and the 2nd pulse of the pulse width larger than that of this pulse are generated from a pulse signal generating circuit 9, and the transmission pulses are transmitted toward an object 16 via the transmitter 11. The 2nd pulse is applied to a selective amplifier circuit 13 to which the signal of a receiver 12 is inputted so that amplifying operation is carried out only during that time. This is also applied to a processing circuit 14, so that the increase in the rate of attenuation of the receiving signal level caused with an increase in delay time along with an increase in the measuring distance is compensated. Hence, the signal component directly leaking from the transmitter 11 to the receiver 12 is eliminated and the accurate measurement is performed.
