Intervertebral spacer
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain an inter vertebral spacer which is inserted and arranged between the vertebral bodies and is not easily dislocated by forming this inter vertebral spacer of a circular columnar body having a screw thread part on its side face, forming a projecting part or recessed part atop this circular columnar body and forming an axial groove in an axial direction in the screw thread part. CONSTITUTION:This inter vertebral spacer 10 has the screw thread part 12 on the side face 11a of the circular columnar body 11 and the projecting part 13 or recessed part 15 is formed on the upper surface 11b of the circular columnar body 11. Further, the axial groove 14 in the axial direction is formed in the screw thread part 12. After the intervertebral disk is removed, a circular columnar hole slightly larger than the spacing between the upper and lower vertebral bodies is bored by a circular columnar chisel and thereafter, the screw thread part is formed by using the jig to be exclusively used. The intervertebral spacer 10 is inserted, under rotation, into the formed hole, by which the vertebral bodies are fixed to each other. This vertebral body spacer has the screw thread part, and is, therefore, easily insertable between the vertebral bodies and is not dislocated after the insertion and the arrangement. In addition, the instability of the spacer, such as osteoabsorption and lack of strength, is eliminated and a contribution is made to an improvement in vertebral treatment.
