Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To assemble a work with good accuracy and to improve the productivity by positioning the superposing part of a work with its deformation and clamping it at the time when plural gages for positioning the work are arranged by each driving mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A panel forming a car body, e.g. a floor main 11, the right and left body sides 12, a roof assembly 13, a cawl top assembly 15 and shaft panel 16 are carried in as works. In that case, the superposing part of the joining part of each work is clamped by a gage member 7 to interpose a flange part of a side sill inner part 11a and side sill outer part 12a, for instance. One part of t he flange part is plastically deformed in a pedestal shape with the cooperation of the projecting part 10a of a clamp member 10 and the recessed part 7a of the gage member 7 by the advance and retreat movement of a piston rod 9a, the deformed parts thereof are mutually fitted and joined. Joining parts (a-t) are thus joined. Consequently the assembly accuracy of the car body is improved.
