Abstract

Abstract 960,535. Aerating Iquids. CORNELIUS CO. Aug. 21, 1962 [March 8, 1962], No. 32110/62. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F1] A method of maintaining the carbonation of a carbonated liquid comprises disposing it in a chamber of variable size, and applying a force to the outside of the chamber, and hence a pressure to the carbonated liquid slightly in excess of its partial pressure. As shown, an apparatus consists of a rigid metal container 11 divided into two chambers 16, 17 by a flexible partition 12. The carbonated liquid is filled into the chamber 16 and a condensable gas (which may be, for example, a blend of propane and butane, nitrous oxide or dichloromonofluoromethane) into the chamber 17 through the filling valve 22. The condensible gas serves also to discharge the carbonated liquid through the hose 14 and dispensing valve 13 ; the hose 14 is elongated and of small bore in order to reduce the pressure of the carbonated liquid by fluid friction to prevent foaming at the outlet.
