Integral unit comprising a complete strain gauge bridge
Abstract
Abstract 921,837. Measuring electrically. WESTLAND AIRCRAFT Ltd. Oct. 2, 1961 [Oct. 22, 1960], No. 36321/60. Class 40 (1). Figs. 1, 2 and 3 show three possible configurations of strain gauges made by printed circuit techniques from a single foil on an insulating or strip-off backing to form four arms of a bridge circuit, two of which having the same or parallel axes are active, and two of which with an axis at right angles to that of the other gauges are dummies. Thickened portions 8 act as terminals and are ten times the width of the gauge elements proper. The foils may be copper nickel or nickel-chromium alloys. The Provisional Specification refers to the use of a manufacturing technique described in Specification 639,178.
