Improvements in instruments to facilitate the examinations of and injections into the human uterus and fallopian tubes
Abstract
Abstract 906,873. Uterine syringes. VACUUMEXTRACTOR A.B. April 2, 1959, No. 11191/59. Class 81 (2). A uterine syringe comprises a suction cup connected to a suction tube 2 which is fixed in the forward section 4a of a handle and an injection tube 1 which is connected to a rear section 4b of the handle, extends coaxially within the suction tube and carries a bored head 11 located within the suction cup, the forward and rear sections of the handle being axially adjustable relative to one another to move the injection tube and its head relative to the suction tube and the suction cup. A retainer 16 adjustably threaded in the rear portion of the handle, is secured to the injection tube and, on rotation, axially displaces the injection tube. A liquid or gas supply connector 18 is threaded in the retainer and communicates with the injection tube. In use, the suction cup is placed against the cervix, the annular muscle of which is drawn into the cup as air is exhausted from it. The head of the injection tube may then be projected through the cervix for the introduction of gas or liquid into the uterus.
