Improvements relating to semi-conductor rectifiers
Abstract
Abstract 883,862. Semi-conductor devices. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 15, 1959 [May 29, 1958], No. 17202/58. Class 37. A return rectifier 1 to be used in an assembly of rectifiers is situated in an annular member of dielectric or resistance material 3 with metallized faces 4 and connected in parallel with the rectifier so as to act as a condenser or resistor to equalize the inverse voltage on each rectifier in the assembly. The dielectric may be ceramic or the resistor material may have a non-linear characteristic. The rectifier is enclosed in end terminal plates 5, 6 which may be of " Fernico " and which are soldered or otherwise metallically bonded to the metallized surfaces. One of the rectifier terminals is soldered to the metallized surface, the other is soldered to the end-plate 6. Plate 5 is shown dished but may be flat when the metal-lined layer is recessed. A number of such rectifiers may be mounted in a ceramic tube 8 held in firm contact with each other and with a terminal cap 10 by a spring 12. Connection to the other cap is made by a lead 11.
