Hollow needles for medical equipment
Abstract
Abstract 809,146. Hypodermic needles. CAPON HEATON & CO. Ltd. Oct. 21, 1957 [Oct. 31, 1956], No. 33187/56. Class 81 (2). The point of a hollow plastic needle is reinforced with a metal insert to prevent it bending over when pressed into a rubber bung. The needle comprises a tube 3 of nylon &c. tapered to form a point 3a which is reinforced by steel &c. wire 5 embedded in the point. A flange 4 integral with the tube abuts against the bung to limit the depth of insertion. In a modification, the reinforcement is in the form of a steel tube of narrow' bore through which air can be admitted to, or released from, the container to which the bung is fitted.
