Improvements in or relating to medical or dental suction tubes
Abstract
Abstract 796,431. Drainage appliances. INGRAM, K. G. Nov. 12, 1956 [Nov. 14, 1955], No. 32501/55. Class 81 (2). A dental or medical suction tube comprises a tube having an opening in its wall intermediate its ends and a manually-operable cleaning member passing through the opening and capable of reaching a projecting from the end of the tube into which material is sucked. A passageway 3 is soldered or biased to a suction tube 1, the passageway 3 merging into the bore of the suction tube 1 near a nozzle 2. A clearing member 4 is slidable in the passageway 3 and can be projected into or beyond the nozzle 2 for clearing it. At its rear end the member 4 emerges from the passageway 3 and carries an adjustable block 7 which serves as an operating member and a stop for limiting the forward movement of the member. A guide 6 for the member 4 is integral with the rear end of the suction tube 1. The clearing member 4 is a sliding fit in the passageway 3 so that inward passage of air through the passageway 3 is negligible. The suction tube 1 may comprise a right-angle bend, the clearing member 4 being flexible and resilient.
