Abstract
Abstract 758,196. Recording apparatus. TELEPHONE RENTALS, Ltd. Aug. 26, 1954 [Sept. 3, 1953], No. 24394/53. Class 106 (4). Means for aggregating the running or idling time of a machine and the idling time due to any one of a plurality of particular cause comprises a number of time registering meters responsive to selective signals transmitted from the machine. The meters may consist of one, TP for productive time, one TL for lost time, on UA for unallotted time and a number A1-A0, each for recording time lost due to a particular cause. The meters may be operated by a pulse generator PG. At the commencement of a working shift a switch SW is closed and pulses reach the meters TL and UA. When the machine M starts, a relay P is operated to close a switch P1, bringing meter TP into operation and open a switch P2 cutting out meters UA and TL. In the event of the machine stopping this last operation is reversed and meters UA and TL again register. The machine operator must now signal the cause of the stoppage and in one embodiment, a number of causes are set out on a telephone dial D, the operator dialling the particular cause to send pulses to the driving magnet SDM of a uniselector switch, the wiper S1 of which travels to the contact connected to the meter allocated to the particular cause. The moving of the wiper S1 from its home position breaks the circuit through the meter UA. Means are provided for cancelling a first dialled cause of stoppage and substituting another. Embodiments are described in which, in lieu of a telephone dial, a series of keys is provided, each bringing in a particular one of the meters A1-A0. The device may be used in conjunction with known chart - recording systems.
