Tool implements for the hot extrusion of metals
Abstract
Abstract 737,591. Extruding. COMPTOIR INDUSTRIEL D'ETIRAGE ET PROFILAGE DE METAUX. Jan. 29, 1953 [Feb. 25, 1952], No. 2608/53. Class 83 (4). In an extrusion press for the hot extrusion of metal tubes having a mandrel 5 carried by a mandrel holder 4 movable longitudinally in a bore of the press ram 2, the forward movement of the mandrel relative to the ram is limited by an adjustable stop 7 screwed on the mandrel holder and co-operating, with an abutment surface 8 on the ram carrier 1; the stop 7 has peripheral teeth 9 meshing with a pinion 10 on a shaft 12. The shaft is preferably driven by a motor 13. The pinion 12 may be wider than the abutment 7 or alternatively it may be slidable axially on its shaft 12 so that in either case the teeth are always in mesh. Keys 14 prevent rotation of the mandrel. Specification 512,115 is referred to.
