Abstract
Abstract 694,637. Centrifugal pumps and blowers. SAUNDERS VALVE CO., Ltd. March 22, 1951 [March 24, 1950], No. 7448/50. Class 110(i) In a totally enclosed impeller made in parts which can be demounted for cleaning and sterilizing, the parts are each adapted to be keyed to the shaft. The front casing wall 14 is suspended by an eyebolt 20 from a pivoted arm 21, so that after release of wing unts 16, the wall 14 can be swung aside. After removal of a retaining screw 10 by means of a spanner or key engaging flats 12, the impeller can be removed from the shaft 8. The rear shroud 5, which rests on a spigot 7, can then be detached from the impeller. Both parts of the impeller are keyed to the shaft 8 by a key 9. The impeller may be retained endwise on the shaft by circlips as described in Specification 600,339. The impeller may be of the double entry type, with the removable shroud screwed or otherwise detachably secured on a hollow spigot formed around one eye.
