Abstract
Abstract 676,144. Two-part couplings. BELLING & LEE, Ltd. Nov. 14, 1950 [March 7, 1950], No. 5759/50. Class 38 (i). The body of a coupling comprises a moulded base 11 of flexible insulating material joined by flexible webs 14, 15 integral with covers 12, 13 which are hinged about the webs and clipped together to close around a cable. The coupling contacts 17 may be mounted in the base as described in Specification 676,172 on either side of an insulating partition 16, which has clip-like projections 24 to engage in recesses 23 in the covers, Fig. 1; alternatively, headed projections 25 on the cover 12 engage cooperating recesses in the cover 13. The covers have channels 22, Figs. 1, 4, through which the cable passes to the contacts. In Fig. 10 the channels each comprise a narrow groove 28 terminating in a round head 29 so that the covers 12, 13 may be closed about a twin cable, having an intermediate web, and retained by the heads 29. The Provisional Specification refers also to a single cover, to the use of a rigid cover or covers and base interconnected by a flexible web or webs, and to the use of a small spring clip for clamping the covers together.
