Improvements in or relating to soldering and solder therefor
Abstract
Abstract 664,882. Soldering. ENTHOVEN & SONS, Ltd., H. J. Aug. 25, 1950 [Sept. 2, 1949], No. 22778/49. Class 83 (iv). Cored solder in strip or wire form, particularly for use in soldering by high-frequency induction heating, has distributed along its core space, particles of high permeability metal, such as iron powder or filings. The particles may be protectively coated as by plating or tinning, and are preferably incorporated in a flux of resin or other material, with or without the addition, of solder particles. The strip or wire may be made by extrusion and drawing down, or by the method disclosed in Specification 625,450. In a particular example a tube of soft solder of three-eighths of an inch external diameter is filled with a mixture of rosin and carbonyl iron powder in the proportion of 6 parts by weight to 2“ parts by weight respectively and drawn down to a diameter corresponding to 16 S.W.G.
