Process for obtaining laminated products
Abstract
Abstract An adhesive for securing solid polytetrafluoroethylene to itself or to metal, glass, mica, asbestos, chinaware, plastics, natural or synthetic resins, or wood, comprises an aqueous 10-70 per cent by weight dispersion of colloidal polytetrafluorethylene. A dilute aqueous polytetrafluorethylene dispersion obtained by polymerizing in the presence of water is neutralized with ammonia, and an aqueous solution of a surface-active agent, e.g. sodium dodecyl sulphate or polyammonium styrene/maleate, is added. The polymer is flocculated with 1 per cent hydrochloric acid and the mixture centrifuged. The supernatant liquid is decanted and the sedimented floc taken up in concentrated aqueous ammonia. Specification 631,504 is referred to.ALSO:Reaction kettles are rendered resistant to chemicals by securing a coating of solid polytetrafluoroethylene thereto by means of an adhesive comprising an aqueous 10-70 per cent by weight dispersion of polytetrafluoroethylene.
