[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Groups XL (b) and XL (c)] A band-pass filter having an irregular output characteristic between its limiting frequencies and a non-rectilinear phase characteristic inserted in the path of a voice or like signal operated device effects a redistribution of energy in the pass band, reducing the ratio of peak amplitude to mean level of received noise and in consequence reducing the liability to false operation. Filters comprising a number of parallel tuned circuits in series or a number of series tuned circuits in parallel having the above characteristics are shown incorporated in valve circuits, Figs.2 and 3.
