Improvements relating to electrical timing circuits
Abstract
Abstract 621,872. Electric indicating systems. SCOLES, G. J., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. July 9, 1946, No. 20506. [Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XL (b)] Relates to a system in which signals 1 ... 6, Fig. 3, representing different items of intelligence are transmitted in a recurring cycle, and at the receiver are distributed to different circuits by pulses coincident with the signals and derived from a time base 1, Fig. 2, which is applied to a tripping device to produce a pulse at a predetermined voltage; it is stated that the operation of the tripping devices is uncertain at voltages occurring near the beginning or end of the time base, and according to the invention this defect is overcome by the production of two time-bases, relatively phase displaced, each controlling tripping devices which together produce pulses coincident with the signals 1 ... 6. A synchronizing signal transmitted with the train of intelligence signals is applied at S to render valve V1 conducting to discharge condenser C1 and produce a sawtooth oscillation A, Fig. 2; this time base is applied from A, Fig. 1, to trip circuits producing pulses coincident, e.g. with signals 3, 4, 5, to control the distribution of the signals 3, 4, 5 to appropriate circuits; this time base is applied to valve V2 to render it conducting at a level X, Fig. 2, and make valve V3 non-conducting, thus producing a pulse C, Fig. 2, at C, Fig. 1, which is differentiated at C2, R4 to produce pulses D, E, Fig. 2, at D, E, Fig. 1, and thus render valve V4 conducting to discharge condenser C4 and produce a second time base O, Fig. 2, at 0, Fig. 1, phase displaced with reference to A and which is used to trip devices to produce pulses coincident, e.g. with signals 6, 12. Specification 621,752 is referred to.
