Means for reproducing x-ray images
Abstract
Abstract 604,198. Television ; local viewing. EDWARDS, B. J., and PYE, Ltd. Feb. 26, 1945, No. 4731. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Groups XX and XL (a)] A pick-up tube 4 for use in apparatus for reproducing X-ray images comprises an evacuated envelope having an electron gun 5 arranged in a part 4B from which projects a tubular extension 4A of smaller cross-sectioned area within which is a mosaic screen 3 arranged at an acute angle, e.g. 45 degrees, to the axis of the tubular extension and the gun to receive X-rays passing from the X-ray tube 1 through the object 2. A scanning generator and amplifier 6 control the movement of the electron beam over the screen 3 and amplifies the output from the pick-up tube which is fed to a further scanning generator and amplifier 7 for the cathode-ray tube 8 upon which the X-ray image is reconstituted. The pick-up tube 4 may be entirely enclosed in an earthed screen except for a window opposite the mosaic screen through which the X-rays are projected on to the screen. The screen 3 may comprise discrete conducting particles as described in Specification 582,304 or may be constructed of photo-electric material which is responsive to X-rays.
