Improvements in or relating to wall and like plugs or rivets
Abstract
Abstract 598,730. Wall plugs; rivets. PANTRY, L., and RAWLINSON, C. Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23096. [Class 89 (i)] Wall plugs, acting as nuts, particularly for use with thin asbestos cement &c. boards 3, are made from soft or ductile metal and have a central part slitted, preferably helically, and a rear end tapped for a screw 6 that is a clearance fit in the rest of the plug. The front end of the plug may be slightly bell-mouthed or provided with projections so that, on tapping into place with a hammer, rotation is prevented during tightening of the screw which causes the formation of an enlargement 7. An article 8 may then be secured by aid of a lock-washer 9. Rivets.-The part 2 may be flanged so that the device can be used as a tubular rivet.
