Abstract

Abstract 597,531. Valve-amplifyiug circuits. HULLS, L. R., and WIGAN, E. R. June 28, 1945, No. 16562. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In an apparatus for integrating a fluctuating signal voltage, a voltage in a condenser which is built up through a unilaterally conducting device in accordance with the magnitude and duration of the signal, has applied in series with it a compensating D.C, voltage equal to and increasing with it and derived from an oscilla. tory voltage. As shown, the voltage to be integrated is applied through condenser 21 to series connected diode 22 and condenser 23, the voltage across which is .taken to the control grid of pentode 26. The load current of valve 26 is passed through resistor 27 the D.C. voltage across which is measured by meter 29 and is proportional to the required integral. An .oscillating voltage is also applied to valve 26, through resistor 34 and condenser 35, and amplified to a degree dependent upon the bias supplied by condenser 23. The output from valve 26 is applied to the primary of transformer 36, the secondary of which is'in series with rectifier 37 7 condenser 40 and resistors 38, 39 across which is developed a compensating voltage equal to that across condenser 23 and which is applied to the anode of diode 22 through resistor 41. If the required integral is larger than is measurable on, the meter 29, then a thyratron may be arranged to discharge condenser 23 when full-scale deflection is reached and each similar repetition recorded by a counting device.
