Abstract

Abstract 589,918. Sub-station features. HORVITCH, G. M. Nov. 28, 1944, No. 23748. [Class 40 (iv)] A telephone relay, consisting of a magnet 1 and a coil 2 in a non-magnetic casing 9, is secured to the earpiece of a telephone by a rubber band 9a. The coil winding terminals 7, 8 are connected to a high-gain hearing aid or other amplifier (not shown), thus enabling an ordinary telephone to be used by a deaf person without dismantling it or interfering with its wiring. Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) illustrate embodiments using inductive and microphonic or piezo-electric pick-ups for the same purpose.
