Abstract

[Classes 16 and 146 (i)] A folder 10 for a suspended file is supported at one edge 12 by a member engaging side rails and at the other edge is so formed as to be incapable of engaging the rails or of attachment to the edge 12, but is supported by being connected to the edge 12 of an adjacent folder. The suspension member comprises a plastic bar 19 formed with notches 17 to fit over the rails, and a metal stamping 15 secured thereto. One end of the folder is passed through a slot 11 in the stamping 15 and secured by stapling 13. The other end is looped over a bar 21 which is not long enough to engage the side rails, and is secured by staples. A slot 24 in the loop and bar 21 can be engaged by sliding action of the bar in the loop with a tongue 16 on the stamping 15 of the adjacent folder. Extensions 23, 14 on the upper ends of the folder facilitate the connection of the edges of adjacent folders, and also prevent documents from contacting with the members 15, 19, 21. Index tabs.-A recess 20 in the bar 19 which may be undercut at its ends is employed for the reception of an identifying label or alternatively a channeled strip attached to the stamping 15 may be provided for this purpose.
