Abstract

Abstract 571,261. Stoppers. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd., and BROCK, W. H. J. Sept. 16, 1943, Nos. 15233/43 and 13178/44. [Class 125 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXV and XXVIII] A plug 1 is secured in the end of a tube 10 by a spring steel dished disc 17 having outwardly extending tongues 23 adapted to enter a groove 15 when the disc is flattened by screws 30, Fig. 3. The tongues are of T- section with their edges 25 having a smaller curvature than the tube 10 so that the ends 24 only engage the groove. The plug has packing rings 14 and seats on a shoulder 13. A tube 26 is connected centrally to the plug. Without the tube 26, a single central screw 18, Fig. 2, may be employed. In a modification for securing a tubular member on a rod, a dished washer has inwardly extending tongues which grip the rod when the washer is flattened against the tube end by screws. In a further modification, a petrol tank filler cap comprises a disc 46, Fig. 8, which bears against a washer 45 within an annular boss 44 and carries a bush 47 engaged by a screw 48 to which is secured a domed cap 50. The spring arms 52 of the conical disc 17 have their ends turned up so that when spread into engagement with the boss 44 on screwing down the cap the bent portion acts as a lever to press the disc 46 on to its seat. Specification 566,073, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
