Improvements in or relating to lead-through conductors for electric discharge tubes
Abstract
Abstract 554,004. Glass/metal seals. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). Feb. 11, 1942, No. 1842. Drawings to Specification. [Class 36] [Also in Groups XI and XXII] A gas-tight seal between a metal lead-in conductor and glass is formed by employing a wire with a central core of chrome-iron surrounded by a layer of silver between which may be interposed a layer of nickel or iron. The core body is covered with the intermediate layer by electrodeposition and has then applied to it the silver layer, the layers being bound to each other by subjecting the wire to heat so as to bring about superficial alloying therebetween.
