Abstract
Abstract 540,678. Heating and cooling buildings. DOOREN, J. T. C. VAN., and NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP STRALINGSWARMTE. April 20, 1939, No. 11949. [Class 64 (ii)] In the heating or cooling of building by means of pipes embedded in the ceilings, a plate 9 of "Insulite", i.e. highly compressed wood fibre, is attached by bolts 4 to a ceiling composed of hollow bricks 1, and covered with aluminium foil 10 of the kind known under the Registered Trade Mark "Alfol". Pipes 8 are attached by hangers 7, and metal gauze 6 is secured to the pipes by wire. A'layer of "Josson" cement 5, made from calcined chalk and clay, containing water glass as a binder; is pressed through the gauze, leaving an air space below the foil 10. The cement is light; non-pbrous, and of good heat conductivity. Heat radiated upwards by the cement layer is reflected downwards by the foil 10.
