Improvements in couplings for shielded electric cables
Abstract
Abstract 533,514. Two-part couplings. DEGEN, A. A. C., and Plessey Co., Ltd. Aug. 11, 1939, No. 23239. [Class 38 (i)] A coupling for a screened cable 10 comprises a tubular end member 14 to be secured to the screen 11 such that it can be assembled to the connector member 16 from the front end after the contacts 17 have been connected to the conductors 10. The connector member 16 has a groove 19 co-operating with a stud 18 in the member 14 to prevent relative rotation and the member 16 is held against a shoulder 25 by a distance sleeve 26 pressed home by a nut 15 engaging a flange 13 on a ferrule 12 attached to the screen 11. The sleeve 26 also retains a slotted insulating disc 23 that is inserted laterally into engagement with shoulders 24 on the contacts 17 to retain them in the member 16. A screw-thread 30 co-operates with a screw ring on the counterpart as described in Specification 533,368. Specification 529,219 also is referred to.
