Improvements in or relating to heat exchange devices employing nests or banks of tubes
Abstract
Abstract 512,633. Forced flow steam boilers; serpentine tube heat exchangers. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. March 9, 1938, No. 7337. Convention date, May 11, 1937. [Classes 64 (iii) and 123 (ii)] In a steam generator, or other heat exchanger, comprising a nest of tubes 3, Fig. 1, having straight sections connected by bends 4, the tubes are supported by spacing members 7, Fig. 2, in the form of flat bars having recesses at their edges, so that each member can be introduced laterally between two rows of tubes 3 with the plane of the member parallel to the planes in which the rows of tubes lie. The member is then turned through a right angle about its longitudinal axis so that the recesses engage the tubes 3 and the strips together form a screen 5 to protect the bent ends 4 from the furnace.
