Improvements relating to dry surface-contact electric rectifiers
Abstract
Abstract 500,342. Asymmetrically - conducting resistances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 19, 1938, No. 27279. Convention date, Sept: 18, 1937. [Class 37J In an electric valve of the dry rectifier type, the grid or grids embedded in the barrier layer are provided with a coating of semiconductor to prevent grid-emission. In a preferred example, the various layers are vaporized or sprayed on to a base plate Et of iron in a neutral atmosphere or a vacuum, and comprise a layer H of selenium, layers J<SP>1</SP>, J<SP>2</SP>, of quartz and between them a control grid G formed by a thin coherent layer of gold or graphite, having on each side a layer H<SP>1</SP>, H<SP>2</SP> of selenium, and finally a layer Eg of readily fusible metal.
