Abstract
Abstract 498,403. Bellows pumps. STANCLIFFE, C. W., and WINGET, Ltd. July 7, 1937, No. 18904. [Classes 8 (i) and 102 (i)] A pump comprises two bellows 11, 12 on opposite sides of a valve box 1. The end plates 13 are connected by side bars 24, which are driven by connecting-rods 26 from discs 25, driven through gearing 27 from an engine 28. The apparatus is mounted on a trolly 29. The valve box 1 is divided into two compartments by a partition 4, each compartment having an inlet valve 5 and a discharge valve 8, with common inlet and discharge pipes 9, 10. Each bellows may consist of sections 15 secured to the box 1 and end plates 13 by means of hose clips 19, and by means of beads on the sections engaging grooves in the parts to which they are attached. The sections 15 are preferably similar in cross-section to a motor tyre, and may be reinforced with canvas. The bellows are supported, in the collapsed position, by suitably formed rings 22, and by suitable formation of the parts to which they are secured.
