Abstract
Abstract 496,820. Centrifugal pumps. LYMER, B. J. June 14, 1937, No. 16472. [Class 110 (i)] Impeller blades have near their inlet ends one or more vent or relief openings A, the walls a being inclined toward the direction of flow so that the liquid where turbulence is to be expected will flow from the rear side of the inlet part of the blade to the front side of the outlet part. The walls may be chamfered or radiused. With impellers using both fulllength and short blades, the openings may be in the full-length blades only. The part of the blade nearest the inlet may be advanced in the direction of rotation.
