Improvements relating to dynamo regulators
Abstract
Abstract 474,398. Automatic control systems ; charging batteries. C.A.V.-BOSCH, Ltd., GLASER, W. H., and WOOD, N. R. May 1, 1936, No. 12393. [Class 38 (iv)] Electromotive force.- A regenerator of the vibratory type controlling the charging of a battery is provided with an additional compensating winding connected to temperature responsive means in the form of a Wheatstone bridge mounted in or on the battery. The dynamo a charging battery c is provided with a vibratory regulator f which puts into and out of action a resistance e in series with field winding b. The electromagnet controlling the regulator f is provided, in addition to the usual shunt winding g, with a compensating winding i connected with a Wheatstone bridge h arrayed across the battery terminals. Opposite pairs of arms may be made of metal having different temperature coefficients of resistance. At a given temperature the bridge is balanced and there is no flow of current through winding i, but variations of temperature upset the balance and result in variations of generator voltage.
