Improvements relating to carriers of magnetic material for recording sound
Abstract
Abstract 468,068. Magnetic sound records. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS - GES. Nov. 28, 1935, No. 33073. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1934. [Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Group VIII] A composite carrier for a magnetizable material for use in the recording of sound comprises a strip of material, which, though insufficiently resistant to tension, has a smooth upper surface on which the magnetic material is applied in the form of a coating of powder, this strip being secured by means of adhesive to a support of fibrous material which is resistant to tension, such as long-fibred paper, in such a way that the adhesive fills up the cavities in the support. As shown, the strip 8, on to the upper surface 4 of which the magnetic material is applied, is made from a very finelyground paper material, such as pergamin, or of a foil made from solution, such as a foil of celluloid or of the materials known under the Registered Trade Mark " Viscose," " Cellon " or " Cellophane." This strip is secured by adhesive 9 to a support 1 of fibrous material, such as long-fibred paper. In producing such a composite carrier, the support 1 together with the strip 8 are passed between a pair of rollers, the upper one of which is of hard polished steel whilst the lower one is of " hard paper," pressed cotton or rubber. Specifications 333,154, [Class 40 (ii)], and 394,810 are referred to.
