Improvements in or relating to electric contact making devices
Abstract
Abstract 465,069. Retractive switches. SAUNDERS, S. Nov. 2, 1935, No. 30364. [Class 38 (v)] An electric contact-making device of the kind comprising two or more uninsulated conductors normally maintained apart and extending longitudinally inside a tube of rubber or other material so that when the tube is pressed the conductors are brought into contact has the conductors normally maintained apart by their outer portions being embedded in the walls of the tube throughout their lengths. As shown the tube A is formed of flattened section the conductors B being formed with longitudinal grooves at each side into which project ridges A<1> on the inside wall of the tube. Alternatively a circular section tube may be employed with four such conductors arranged at right-angles. In further modifications described stranded wires partially embedded in the wall of the tube may be employed or conductors formed as embedded wires secured by woven wire loops to the contact-making wires. Plain round section wires may also be employed and retained by bulging the walls of the tube inwardly between them or interleaved conducting-members may be retained by being formed with outer keying projections engaging in the walls of the tube.
