Abstract
Abstract 456,285. Surgical suturing-appliances and sutures. GUERRINI, R., 41, Via Annibale Foscari, Florence, Italy. May 2, 1935, Nos. 13130 and 13131. Convention dates, May 3, 1934 and July 30, 1934. [Class 81 (ii)] An appliance for cutaneous sutures includes a pincette and has a casing 1 with a hollow interior forming a magazine for a column of gripping- members 7 urged by a spring-pressed block 2 towards the open end of the appliance. The lowermost gripping - member is retained by the shaped end 8 of arms 10 which are also utilized to apply a gripping- member to the skin. Opposite sides of the open end of the appliance are formed with arched openings 17 to facilitate the manipulation of the edges of the skin to be joined. The arms which may be rigid and pivoted or, as shown, are resilient and have their upper ends fixed to the casing 1 by screws 11, are held in the retaining position by pivoted latches 14 which are operated to open more widely the ends of the arms 10 when the magazine is to be recharged with a pile of gripping members. The magazine is loaded with the aid of a member comprising a thin strip 50 of ductile metal shaped to produce locating folds 51 for the gripping members which are retained in the folds by small tongues 54. After the pile has been inserted in the magazine of the appliance the strip 50 is withdrawn. The block 2 may be provided with lugs engaging in slots in the walls of the casing. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a modification of the appliance shown in Fig. 1. This subject-matter, which does not appear in the Specification as accepted, constitutes the entire subject-matter of Specification 456,332.
